Regular Posts: 58 | Hello all. I have a 58 coronet and I have this switch that kinda looks like a rheostat under my dash. It has two small gauge speaker wires soldered to it and two brown wires which are wired to the light switch and are powered on both sides with the key on. The speaker wires run to the trunk and are not connected to anything and they do not have power to them. The car is bone stock and the wiring has not been cut up. The car also does not have rear defrost. (image.jpg) Attachments ---------------- image.jpg (180KB - 117 downloads)

Regular Posts: 58 | Not sure if the wires are going to the correct spot but the fader switch is on the light switch itself.

Regular Posts: 58 | That's how I got here. I was trouble shooting why my dash lights wouldn't work and as I was taking the switch out I noticed the dimmer control on the light switch.

Regular Posts: 58 | Oh we'll that would make some sense. The wire ends in the trunk right where the rear speaker is supposed to be. Figured that would be in the owners manual or the service manual. Maybe a dealer installed option for front and rear speakers? The service manual only shows a rear speaker in the schematics.

If you dont want to reinstall it, I'm looking for that exact switch for my car!

Expert Posts: 1737 Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | Plymouth and Dodge radios did not have built-in fader switches, so that switch was added under the dash if you ordered the rear speaker option. Only the Chrysler, DeSoto and Imperial radios were factory equipped for the rear speaker.

Regular Posts: 58 | Sorry about the lack of response. Deployments, work, moving, and other projects i had forgotten about this question. I did fix the lights and radio and fixed the wiring for the fader switch. Everything works as advertised now. My wife was super happy and amazed that everything still works on this car.
