Extreme Veteran Posts: 466 Location: Southwest VA | Anybody here going to the Mopar Nationals this weekend at National Trails Raceway (Columbus), OH? My brother and I are driving up with his '70 Challenger R/T. I know not as many '55-'61 Mopars show up there compared to Carlisle, but there's still a few. Jim

Veteran Posts: 127 Location: Minneapolis | I was there Friday and I'll be there Saturday and probably Sunday. I didn't see many forward look cars though, and only one desoto. I had my heart set on picking up a generator for my 57 at the swap meet but there were absolutely no older mopar parts. Oh well.

We were going to bring three (3) forwards. Yeah, we displayed the Challenger in one of the fun fields. It was $60 for two days but that also included a two day admission for one. So basically it was $30 for one car displayed two days, and $15 a day per person.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8443 Location: Perth Australia | I am not really into car shows, but I dont know why they would charge for a car to be displayed? If no cars come, theres no show, I thought it was the spectators that covered costs (and sponsors, if the show can get them) I can show a car by parking it on the side of the road

Carlisle was about $50 for three days, ( you could also get in thursday if you wanted) and that included the driver and one passenger. It's also more swap meet area, more show car area, and more attractions.

The nats is like a saturday cruise in compaired to The Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. We regestered our show car early and got 10% off for that, (admission for two included). were able to enter the fairgrounds on Wednesday. Almost 2500 show cars and lots of FL cars & parts. More then one can do in four days, including drag racing just up the road. It's the place to go for any serious Mopar fan.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 466 Location: Southwest VA | I've been to every Chryslers @ Carlisle since 1996 and every Mopar Nationals since 1988. I enjoy attending both shows and wouldn't say that Carlisle makes the Nats look like a cruise-in. Last year The Nationals had 2405 show cars and 1910 vendors and this year seemed just as large or larger. Very close to Carlisle numbers. http://www.moparnats.org/sites/default/files/13RESULTS_1.pdf I saw quite a few Forwardlook's there this weekend scattered about (most were in the "fun fields"), including a nice '56 Fury that was cruising at Heath on Saturday night and a clean '59 Desoto hardtop. There was also a sweet '61 Newport convertible with a factory floor shift manual trans (I've got a couple of photos of that one) and a survivor '61 Imperial both parked near our car. Carlisle definitely has more '55-'61 cars, but there were some gems to be found at National Trails. Also, I bought a set of '57 Dodge spinner hubcap centers in great shape for $10!

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | Well thats good to hear. I used to attend the nats when it was held in Indy ... And the first few years it was moved to Columbus. But the show was going downhill ...... low attendance, poor facility etc. and I just quit going. At the same time the Carlisle Chrysler show was going in the opposite direction, (still is), and became the show of choice for most Mopar folks. Glad to hear they picked things up at the nats.
