User has resigned from board | QUESTION, IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN BACKING PLATES AND SUPORT PLATES WITH 2" DRUMS AND 2 1/2" DRUMS, OTHER THAN THE DEEPER DRUM IS EVERYTHING ELSE THE SAME THNKS | ||

User has resigned from board | hmm they are ? im holding 2 brake shoes, 1 is 2" the other 2 1/2" if the 2" shoe sits flush and even with the support plate and flat and up against the backing plate where it rides with a little help from grease points on the backing plate , wont the 2 1/2 sit crooked because its wider think about it | ||

User has resigned from board | <p>ron your the man! thank you, i have an off to buy a complete ,almost complete set of front/ back 2 1/2 brake set up, so now I know, I deff need all 4 backing plates, and I can reuse the better center supports , thanks. as far as buying the book, gee I cant remember the last time I bought a book, other than having the service manual, to help with repairs l, I come here to find knowledge, if we all had the book, why have a club</p> Edited by 196061SAVOY 2015-03-28 6:34 AM | ||

If you think about it, the extra width of the wider brake drum has to go inward toward the center of the axle...accordingly, the backing plate has to "wrap" inward to accommodate the wider shoe. | ||
