Should be verified. - SERGE - Serial = M186 100265 1st Digit = Model Year = M = 1959 Mopar 0310 = Scheduled build date March, 10 The second digit, 1, is for Plymouth 6 actually, as well as the export variations - Dodge Kingsway and DeSoto Diplomat built in the U.S. In Canada 1 was for Plymouth 6 and DeSoto Diplomat 6 while 7 was Dodge 6 and Dodge Kingsway 6. The third digit, 8, is for US-built Plymouth (and other Plymouth-based makes) taxis. In Canada taxi and police models were option packages and not a series, The sequential production number, 100265, means the car is the 265th model M18 built. 1959 was the last year the sequential production number was related to make and model. For all Chrysler Corporation VIN used on 1959 cars - First digit - M - Engineering Department code for the 1959 model year. 2nd digit - Codes for the makes - 1 - Plymouth 6, Dodge Kingsway 6 (USA - EXP), DeSoto Diplomat 6 (EXP) 2 - Plymouth V8, Dodge Kingsway V8 (USA - EXP), DeSoto Diplomat V8 (EXP) 3 - Dodge (122" wheelbase) 4 - DeSoto 5 - Chrysler 6 - Imperial 7 - Dodge 6 (118" - CDN), Dodge Kingsway 6 (CDN - EXP) 8 - Dodge V8 (118" - CDN), Dodge Kingsway V8 (CDN - EXP) Series for 1959 (3rd digit in VIN) - 0 - Dodge Coronet 6 1 - Dodge Coronet V8, DeSoto Firesweep, Chrysler Windsor, Imperial Custom 2 - not used 3 - Plymouth Savoy, Dodge Crusader (CDN), Dodge Kingsway (EXP), DeSoto Diplomat (EXP), DeSoto Firedome, Chrysler Saratoga, Imperial Crown 4 - not used 5 - Plymouth Belvedere, Dodge Mayfair (CDN), Dodge Kingsway Deluxe (EXP), DeSoto Diplomat Deluxe (EXP), DeSoto Fireflite, Chrysler New Yorker, Imperial LeBaron 6 - Plymouth Fury, Dodge Viscount (CDN), Dodge Kingsway Custom (EXP), DeSoto Diplomat Custom (EXP), Dodge Coronet 6 Taxi (USA), DeSoto Firesweep 6 Taxi (USA) 7 - All Station Wagons. 8 - Plymouth Taxi (USA), Dodge Kingsway Taxi (USA - EXP), DeSoto Diplomat Taxi (USA - EXP), Dodge Coronet V8 Taxi (USA), DeSoto Firesweep V8 Taxi (USA) 7 - All Station Wagons. 9 - Plymouth Sport Fury, Dodge Kingsway Lancer (EXP), DeSoto Diplomat Adventurer (EXP), DeSoto Adventurer, Chrysler 300-E, Pursuit Sedan (USA) American-built export Dodge Kingsway and DeSoto Diplomat models were available in all Plymouth models, which is why there was a Kingsway Lancer and DeSoto Diplomat Adventurer. Canadian-built export models were - Plymouth 6 Belvedere - 4dr Sedan Dodge 6 Kingsway Deluxe - 4dr Sedan DeSoto 6 Diplomat Deluxe - 4dr Sedan Assembly plants for 1959 - 1 - East Jefferson Avenue (DeSoto, Chrysler), Detroit, Michigan 2 - Hamtramck (Dodge), Detroit, Michigan 3 - Evansville (Plymouth), Indiana 4 - Los Angeles (Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto Firesweep, Chrysler), California 5 - Newark (Plymouth, Dodge), Delaware 6 - Lynch Road (Plymouth, Dodge Kingsway, DeSoto Diplomat), Detroit, Michigan 7 - West Warren Avenue (Imperial), Detroit, Michigan 8 - Valley Park (St.Louis), Missouri 9 - Windsor (Plymouth, Dodge (118"), Dodge Custom Royal, DeSoto Firedome, Chrysler Windsor/Saratoga), Ontario 0310 - Scheduled build date - March 10, 1959 Published production figures for Chrysler Corporation cars include taxi and police models with Savoy, Coronet, and Firesweep models. Extreme Veteran Posts: 481 Location: The Netherlands | I think I did post the trim code 553 in another topic he made. Trim 553 is actually a heavy duty interior for taxi's. | ||
