Hey Guys,

Picking the minds of some 50's Mopar Guru's. My dad is possibly selling his project car and I was curious if you guys know about how much the current value may be? It is a 1957 Dodge Custom Royal D-500 hardtop package. He always planned on restoring her, however he always had to many irons in the fire. The car was originally a CA car and also spent half its life in MT As a know pricing is about condition so here we go:

Red and White, 325 Hemi, 3-speed pushbutton, power steering, power brakes and very solid. and a good project. The rocker panels will need replacing and there is one small 1/8 hole in the driver floor, and my dad has brand new patch panels for the rockers. The original engine was rebuilt around 15-20 yrs ago and has been on an engine stand since. The car also has a dent in the rear bumper in which the impact caused the passenger rear quarter to tweak. I know when my dad acquired the car he had a body guy take a look at it and he mentioned it was no problem to straightened. With time and love this would be a sweet car and it makes me sad to see that he is thinking of letting her go.

Check out some pics and I really appreciate any input you have to give us a better idea if he decides to let her go I want to help him out as much as possible.

Thanks again.

Looks like its going to need a lot, but not as bad by a mile compared to some

Pictures of body tags and engine numbers would help

There are a lot of D500 clones out there, so number verification will help

It would also be an idea (If your Dad hasnt done it yet) to get the IBM Build record from Chrysler historical for this car, its not expensive and will show you (and prospective buyers) how and where the car was built and (if known) where and by who it was sold ect

I dont follow these Dodges close enough to give a dollar value, but its value is in its heritage (and condition)

Good luck with your sale

Thanks Mick,

This is very helpful!! I will look into the IBM Build records. Here are a few pictures of the body tags and engine numbers. The engine does have a D500 stamp.

Assuming the numbers check out, a fair sale price is always a tricky subject. As a seller, you do not want to leave cash on the table. Price guides do not often address cars like this. There is obviously value in the engine rebuild. The body and interior need everything. However, the body looks very good and the two-door hardtop and Custom Royal model plus the D500 engine are a big selling plus - a fantastic combination. My guess at a price that would actually sell: about $10,000.

I'll second Mikes opiniom. I think $10k is probably close. Post the VIN and data plate in the decode thread. For sure get the IBM card from Chrysler Historical Services.
