Locate a store in your town or somewhere that makes power steering hoses and I bet they can tell you exactly what u need.

Beware (I read it somewhere, maybe here) that the original design, with the metal part that goes in the hose's middle, is important to the correct operation of the power steering. If I remember well, that metal part somehow restraint the flow, as needed by the steering box.

I bought mine NORS, but I think Atlas does a reproduction, albeit their prices are quite high.

Gates 352700.

Works perfectly on my 59. Must be the same for 58

I was looking to see how it compared to my 60 Dodge. The dodge lists a 352297. For the plymouths I see the same 352297 listed for a 59 but rockauto lists nothing for a 58. The 58 seems to have a separate remote reservoir, perhaps in 59 they went to the integral reservoir like my 60 has.

yes, i always thought there must be a reason for the oe "staggered" hose so i was reluctant to replace it with a hard line and a short piece of flexible teflon line but it works great (for over 2 years now). i used stretched brake line spring armor over the high pressure copper line to improve heat transfer, so its a ps cooler too.
i think the removal of the soft hose along with the cooling action and synthetic ps fluid (thanks wizard) improved steering feedback a bit. i highly recommend this modification. cheap too and should last forever. the only thing i don't like is the bling look of braided stainless in my engine compartment. but as you can see its not a show car anyway.

ps i've been running a large ps cooler before so this mod should make an even greater difference on cars without a ps cooler. i recommend a ps cooler for everyfl car. night and day difference in hot weather.

I need to replace one of my PS hoses but am unsure what to use.. It's the hose that just uses hose clamps with no fittings. You can see it on top of the pump in Sid's last photo. Can I just use normal reinforced hose that can withstand PS fluid? My old hose is so old and out of shape. Does anyone know where I can get the correct ID and OD?

Yes. Use PS hose. Your auto parts store should have it on a roll. It is a low pressure return hose. Measure the pipe at the end of the pump for size in MM or Inches. Marc.

Thanks mate.. Even posted Australian links!!

Silly question but do I measure the O.D of the pipe after the barb or measure pipe including the barb?
