Here's my latest ride 1957 Dodge Suburban( Canadian Plodge) just picked her up yesterday. It runs as smooth as my watch I see a few other members wagons on here and they look great. Feel free to add them to this thread the more the better. Wagons are a hot ticket item right now.I'd like to put this one on the road, the brakes have been done,but I expect some front suspension work will be required to put back on the road.

Wagons and fined cars are hot right now. Wagons with fins!

Many N.E and N.Central U.S. states believe a heavy layer of salt on the roads helps treat the waterways so that IF a fish should get washed into the ocean, it won't die of salt shock. Your car, from a distance, looks fairly solid. What does Alberta do for snow?

Looks like a great car to work with.

Thanks, Alberta uses a fertilizer/sand mix Eco friendly not car friendly either. The gravel roads were the leading destroyer of a good many of these cars.It's great to see the interest in these wagons. Your ride looks to be fully restored and probably pretty rare. I had a couple of 61 plymouths[Belvedere/Fury] a couple of years back and done some follow up on those it appeared that the 60 Plymouths were even a rarer item.Hopefully more post their wagons on this thread It's great to scroll through and see some history and restoration work done on these cars.

Cool wagon, Glen! Those Plodges are neat and that one's got a cool color combo.

Here are two of my favorite wagons; as you can guess I'm more of a "Plain Jane" wagon lover.
I finished the green 1961 back in 2012 and completed the brown 1960 last year.

Looking Good!! in GEORGIA those are Street Machines they give me some "Sit up and take notice" those are rare and finding parts for the 61 was a challenge to say the least. I had a 61 Fury and 61 Belvedere both 2dr hardtops. I intended to do the Belvedere then one afternoon a guy called me and needed some parts off the Fury for his Fury because it had suffered fire damage in his garage while he was doing a floor panel repair. Long story short he ended buying both cars from me.I have since had about a dozen calls on those two cars LOL.

I found my Suburban through Auto Locator Mag. It was a Saturday, I had nothing to do, and I wanted to take a drive but I was never deliberately looking for an early Chrysler product. Maybe a MOPAR muscle car. My first thought was and this is my exact first words to the seller, "that is the ugliest car I ever saw". It came out before I could stop myself. I NEVER would have even glanced at this car 40 years ago so I honestly don't remember even seeing one before but after a few minutes I realized I had to have it.

I also have always liked the "plaine Jane" look, but, for some reason I think that these monster cars from the late 50s-early 60s should be as chromy and gaudy as possible but if mine were a 2 dr., that would have been fantastic.

The only thing I don't see on the 61 that I would have to add reguardless of how much I like originalnality is a driverside mirror. I couldn't go retro on that. Maybe if I were 17 and indestructable again I would never even notice?

I've often wondered why buy a 2 dr. wagon? I suppose my car should have been a 2 dr. The orignal owner had a wife and 2 kids. His daughter and son died and then his wife shortly before he bought the car. He was farmer and apparently had the middle seat folded down the whole time. It was mint but the back of it and the rear interior were well used. He probably should have bought a 2 dr Savoy. Maybe he simply liked the style? Possibly it was the only Suburban the dealer had at the time?

I'm wondering if my car even went through a dealeship? It was delivered from Detroit to Jackson Motors Co. near Pittsburgh that I can't find any info on them. There is still a company in Pittsburgh with that name but it is an electric motor supplier. Maybe he ordered it directly through Chrysler and had it delivered to this business? Was that possible back then? Is it possble to take delivery of a car today without going through a dealership?

Anyone know this other wagon?

Hello, I don't know if you read my post on the rear window screen but according to the MOPAR instructions that came with the NOS screen, it says the screen would fit 1957-60. The paper was printed in 1959, so I am fairly sure, that it will fit 1961 also. Your widow frame looks like the glass is almost squared at the corners?

I have another NOS screen that I am trying to find its application. It measures 45 3/4" and is a couple inches narrower than the 1960. IF your window is the same as my 1960, then it should be approx. 48 1/2" with rounded corners? Thanks for any answers. No one will take the time to respond and I am hoping you can at least give me a glass measurment?

Karl, I'm not sure if you are talking to me or not and I can't seem to find the rear window screen thread anymore!

I measured both my '60s and my '61s and they are the same size and shape, the glass is about 49-inches across, a little more
with those that still have the trim around the glass. That's cool that screen fits, that will be a neat add-on to have!

Mike, here's my fancy '60-- note the trim around the coves and hood rim to accommodate for the 2-tone color scheme.

I really like the wheel covers on that '60 wagon. I wish there were fins on the '57 & '58 Chrysler wagons like on the regular cars! I haven't touched the pink wagon for a long time, I'm thinking of selling it as it deserves to be put back on the road. I already have too many projects so with that in mind I picked up a '63 Valiant 2dr today. I wasn't looking for another car but you know how it goes. I know it's not a FL but it does have an aluminum block slant six in it.

Thanks, I was 99% sure the 60 & 61 were the same. I still would like to find measurements for 1955-56, 1957-59, and 1962++:?

I have seen Savoys without the cove stainless. Was it was an option on the Savoy yet standard with 2 tone paint? Probably called a paint devider? I have also see solid color cars with the trim. I guess you just ordered a higher end car with upper and lower paints the same color?

I'll tell you honestly, I now know why the screens are so rare and probably only survive in NOS. IF there are any others at all? They are big, bulky, clumsy, delicate when out. You would almost need a hard case to store it. I doubt they would have been very practical with the 3rd seat because you have to lower the gate to remove it. I've already almost bent it. There is a tab on the lower edge that you pull on slightly to help it align to the curve of the window. It is curved but is needs to be lined up exactally while raising the window and making sure the top slide in correctly at the same time.

I am going to have to be super careful. I doubt after using it a few times when the car was new, the owner was all that carefull. Probably realized it was a pain right a way. It is not anodized so it will be an item that might require a lot of care also. My guess is that it has to be the rarest surviving option and especially in used condition? Maybe someone has some NOS ones stored away. If not how many could there be left? A hand full?

Love those wagons!

Here is my 60. Paint is 95% original (an early repair on the right quarter). Originally a slant 6 - 3 tree, it currently has an 11:1 compression 383 - A833 4 speed combo. It's got a z-d front stub and Aspen suspension done in the 90's. I was never able to find decent door spears, and one of the ones I had had a hole gouged through so I just shortened them. It's done. I like it just the way it is.

what model is it. Nyer, or Windsor. I'm a bit confused because of the non aluminium door frame.

Yup. I bought the car in Richland WA in the 80's. The Hanford nuke area nearby made hot stuff for the first atomic bombs. It was fun and seemed appropriate.....I found out later from my pals in the area that they recollect that the AEC cars were stenciled with black lettering. Oh well!

63 Dodge 880 wagon, fully loaded. Duel AC, Duel mirrors, power everything etc. Bought it for 7500 in 04. My dad drives it to lunch, hence the plate I got him for the car. Really strong driver.

Finally, 59 AMC Ambassador. I love this car, very quirky. Bought out of an estate around 6-7 years ago. People rarely know what it is. I love wagons!

Very cool wagons all. I have never noticed that on the 60 Polara wagon how the side stainless lines up with the door handles. Makes it very clean looking. Chrysler lives !!! Here's mine. Paint is mostly original. Very little rust. I have always liked wagons. Never too be seen again.

It just amazes me to see all these wagons Love them all each and everyone. I finally trailered mine home yesterday [ condition: clutch burnt out LOL] all is well!! Anyone have any suppliers for clutch replacement or suggestions on some options please drop me an email

There are or were 2 57 Rambler wagons for sale in my area last summer. Neither were asking much and both cars were solid originals. If I could afford it and had the space I would have brought the one home for $2000. Neither were near as nice as that one.
I like the wagons but the sedans I can't do.

Sure wish they would have had hardtop Plymouth Wagons. The 58 & 60 Plymouths would be my first choices.

Where is this Suburban? Is it part of the ones in the field in upstate N.Y.? I am heading up that way in a couple of months will be stopping in to have a look. Unfortunately, it would take WAY beyond me to bring it back to life but I still want to see another car like mine in person.

Looks like a fine find, Jeff! She's got some good options: steering wheel, aftermarket A/C, roof rack, grab bars, and based on the
bumper steps is probably a 9-passenger.

OMG! Dad had one exactly like this one in 1958 - color and all. I think it was a six passenger but not 100% sure. A big difference though, Dad's actually was right side up!

Here's my 62. It belonged to my great uncle originally, then changed hands within the family. It sat 20 years in a museum just outside Peoria, Ill. I've been reconditioning it for my parents to use.
