I was re-reading the book and found the HY-6241-J reference.  I did some digging on the internet, and as far as I could tell, there is no plate like it.

I made a design, and here it is.  Kind of a fun project!

Location: The Centennial State		Thanks, David! I did a bit of research on the 1978 PA plates, and they don't really lend themselves to the book number HY-6241-J because of the center keystone. I had to "wing it" a bit by placing the H over the Y on the left side, but I think it works.

According the Movie CHRISTINE this is the correct License Plate: CQB 241

or not?  - SERGE - 

Owners of a CHRISTINE can copy the picture on a sticker, on car will look as Original! For higher resolution, size 1 : 1, send mail link.

Just added: 04 flat and 05 relief, both in metal, available in Switzerland for CHF 13.62

Ha!  Yes, the movie is undoubtedly more popular.  Does the 1956 plate even make sense though?  I guess you could buy a 1958 Plymouth as early as what?  Maybe September 1957?  Assuming that plate was on Christine since new, wouldn't it be a 1957 plate?  You probably couldn't get a custom-ordered red 1958 Fury sedan until at least 1958 (ha, ha, ha).  That would be a heck of a custom order!

I went with the design of a 1978 Pennsylvania plate because the book takes place between the summer of 1978 and the winter of 1979.
