It was 208 Main St. in 1961. But that is a house today.

NicksGarage - 2021-08-15 8:59 PM It was 208 Main St. in 1961. But that is a house today.

Google maps takes you to S. Main St, not Main St. They may have renamed the street Norwich Ave. The best bet is to contact the Historical Society.

There is no 7-11. It's likely where United Auto Parts is now. Right on the corner, across from the Green (where there is a great monthly cruise nite). This could also explain the multiple address situation.

You're probably right. Google maps had taken me to Marlborough. The owner of the dealer was named Bernard Schuster. The dealership was not mentioned in his obit but he had a trucking company in Colchester until 1983.

This also matches the two playing cards that I have from the dealership. 444 So. LaBrea, Los Angeles.

Lagrew Motors, 1021 South Federal Hwy., Pompano Beach, FL


I only see ads for Lagrew Motors in 1959 and 1960 papers. In 1958 it was Schmidlapp Motor Car Co., DeSoto Plymouth, they also dealt in imports. They appear to be the first ones there. In 1961 the dealer at that address is Glover Motor Co. Then in 1963 it's WM. Lehman. Then in 1965 it's Boat Discount Center. Then in 1967 it's Pete Thorne's Volkswagen City aka Pete Thorne Auto Brokers. In 1969 it changes again, now John Gravel's Autorama. In 1970 it's Jeep of Pompano. Seems to be a cursed location.

The building is still there and is a used car lot. The right wing off the showroom is gone though.

I looked up W.J. Render & Son and they show up from 1955-1957 as a DeSoto Plymouth dealer at 216 S. Federal Hwy in Pompano Beach. In 1958, they are selling Fiats as well. Looks like they are the ones that built that new building but soon after sold it to Schmidlapp even though their ads show the address to be 1001 S. Federal Hwy.

I have a license plate frame from that dealer. They were the North Seattle dealer in the 50s and early 60s, turned into Goodfellow C-P in the early 60s.


I have the original Seattle Auto frame and I did a repro myself with original style of lettering so it fits better in the restored car.

Here is a picture of Seattle Automobile Co. Inc. from 1953 I guess. Taken from "Seattle car dealers of the past" -group in Facebook.

Location: Whitewater, Ca		I recently bought an exact copy of my very first car; a 1966 Barracuda. In the back of the owners manual is the transfer of ownership form. It was a Chrysler company car for 8 months
until it was sold at Young Motors, located in the 700 block of Fredericksburg, Virginia in Jan. of 1967. The region was 35, and the dealer number was 8405. I did a quick look and didn't see this info in the thread.

I recently bought an exact copy of my very first car; a 1966 Barracuda. In the back of the owners manual is the transfer of ownership form. It was a Chrysler company car for 8 months
until it was sold at Young Motors, located in the 700 block of Fredericksburg, Virginia in Jan. of 1967. The region was 35, and the dealer number was 8405. I did a quick look and didn't see this info in the thread.

Location: MN		Corwin in Fargo was a Chry-Ply dealer, but also a Mopar distributor. Sometime in the 60-70s Chry changed the parts distribution. Corwin in still in business in a different location but has added Dodge & Toyota & Honda

Corwin in Fargo was a Chry-Ply dealer, but also a Mopar distributor. Sometime in the 60-70s Chry changed the parts distribution. Corwin in still in business in a different location but has added Dodge & Toyota & Honda
