Location: Mandurah, Western Australia | My 55 Plymouth right hand drive wagon leaks quite a lot of fluid from the Powerflite transmission. To make it worse, the Powerflite has a short, stubby filler tube which I read somewhere was fitted to early Dodge and Plymouths.
That makes it really hard to top up as I have to remove the accellerator pedal to lift the carpet and remove the access cover in the floor.
I want to replace the short tube with the longer tube which is standard on 55-56 Plymouths and Dodges. I also need the bracket and dipstick to match.
The part numbers are
tube 1614 483
bracket 1611 169
dipstick 1614485
Any help would be appreciated. I'm in Western Australia, so I just need the filler bits, not a complete transmission.

| I have a complete tube but shipping would be high from me to you. Have you tried John at Bigm on this site? He has a salvage yard in Calif. with many FLs and shipping would be a little cheaper. |

Location: Mandurah, Western Australia | thanks, I'll give BigM a try. Yes, shipping is expensive but its part of life when you live where I do. Everything nearly doubles in price when you add shipping, especially ebay of late. |

| I looked at my cars and the position of the tube appears it would interfere with a RHD steering box so you would probably have to modify it. i will try to get some pics for you.

Location: Mandurah, Western Australia | Thanks Rolland, I didnt think of that. I will have a look at mine today. Maybe that is why I have a short filler tube?
My car is RHD ex factory.

Location: Mandurah, Western Australia | There is not much room around the RHD steering column, and the RHD accelerator linkage gets in the way also, as well as a few cables that I can probably move. I still think its worth a try.

Location: NorCal | Here in The States we have 1/2" thin wall EMT electrical conduit which works good for fabricating dipstick tubes that require custom bends. I take note of the position of the "FULL" mark on the original dipstick in relation to the tube end and then fabricate a new tube and extend the stick as needed.
Don't know what you have down under but there is probably something similar and a hand-bender for it. |
