I know the Highway HiFi is supposed to be connected to a 7-button "HR" radio and amp, but has anyone wired one of these to work independently?

I did see one a couple years back on ebay that was wired to a small external amplifier and converted to run small center hole 45's.

It would be cool to get mine to operate, even independent of the radio, I just can't make heads or tails of how to wire it, and don't want to mess the whole thing up wiring it incorrectly.

There's not that many wires, but that wouldn't stop me from messing it up....

This is going to be one of my winter projects, but maybe I can track down the parts I need ahead of time.

Okay, I searched the archives and came up empty, As always any help is appreciated, Thanks, Mark

That should be an interesting project!  I bought a HighwayHiFi, but it was incomplete - getting it to operating condition is not an option.  Looking forward to updates on your project!

Look like a lot of work for a few selection of questionable music selected by Chrysler 60 years ago, remember that this particular record player plays one specific record type. However would be nice to make it work just to seen it play.

I not sure, but I think this model is the one with the four figures Stylus price tag.

I'd like to change the needle and the motor speed in mine to be able to play 45's too!! There's got to be a wiring diagram someplace for these. I once saw a highway hi-fi service manual on ebay but i got out bid! I haven't been able to get one yet.
