I had a power window that wasn't working. It was the RR on my 57 De Soto sedan. It worked from the master switch at the drivers door but not the local switch on the RR door. Anyhow... I found the problem at the door where wires had shorted in the hinge. I am confused on exactly how these power windows are wired up. The FR door has 3 wires coming into it, up/down and power which the local switch is tied into. But, both the back doors have 5 wires coming into them. Two sets of up/down wires and a power. Does anyone have a wiring diagram they can share? Thanks.

I know nothing but have access to 57 and 58 Chrysler and 57 Dodge service manuals that I have downloaded. I presume one of them will be similar to a 57 Desoto. Good luck. (and Happy New Year)

Thanks!

These make sense and the wire colors are what I have on my car. However, these diagrams don't show the extra up/down wires on the rear doors. Weird.

Dave, I just rewired mine; ran a fuse for each motor and two relays for each motor. One for up and one for down. Even with serviced electric motors and clean and greased tracks, there is a 10amp power draw on initial start up. Am running a 15A fuse on each motor and all is contained in a project box under the rear parcel shelf. I did this to save the soft solder switches (rebuilt).

i still retained the factory wire colours and used plug in connectors too. Lots of work but all works well.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and re-wire while I've got all the door panels off anyway. What relays did you use?

Dave, I just used old fashioned Bosch plastic cased $5 30A relays; bought sockets as well but didn't use them ( not enough space and over complicated) ... in future, I might investigate a smaller relay. My main objective was to keep the workings remote and remove the need to remove upholstery to trouble shoot later.... after taking the load off the switches!
