Member Posts: 38 | Hello everyone. I have a kilometer/hour speedometer that my dad purchased at an dealership auction near Pittsburgh, Pa many, many years ago. It was sold as "New" at the time. Looks to be new save a few scratches from years of storage... and the harness clips appear to be a metal that didn't age well next to the galvanized steel of the speedometer shell. At the time, he and his brothers thought it would be cool/novel to have a speedometer in their cars that went up to 200 (they had a variety of 60-62 Chryslers at the time, and this would have worked in any of them). No idea why a KPH speedometer would be in PA dealer stock. http://oi67.tinypic.com/24180a0.jpg Any thoughts on value? And if this is the wrong place to ask, please let me know. Thanks.

Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | Jari, his spedometer is NOS. I also have a kmh spedo in my car but is used and i would not sell it. If you car was original mp/h the kp/h wont work properly. (dash.jpg) Attachments ---------------- dash.jpg (182KB - 93 downloads)

The sweep of the needle only cares about the turns of the gear in the trans. I would have thought that you could swap between a 120 mph and 200 kph... but not a 150 mph and 200 kph because the relative speeds of the dial endpoints are not the same.

The speedometer must be calibrated for correct function. This operation is done by a gauge repair shop. The kilo speedometer has a different gear ratio in the odometer. So any speedometer can be mounted but they won't show correct speed until calibrated. The transmission speedometer gear serves different rear end ratios and tire sizes. That's all there is to it.....

I will never take my car above that, or even close to 120mph. it is relatively easy to adjust the rotation to get the speed in MPH vs. KPH, but the odometer will be off if you do.
