Location: Under the X in Texas | Not to my knowledge and there were at least THREE styles. 1. Tiny hole (shown) 2. single large hole ('57 Chrysler and Impl) 3. Multiple hole ('58 and later cars)

Location: Under the X in Texas | From '58 up the multi-hole never changed to my knowledge.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9670 Location: So. Cal | Interesting, thanks. Any idea why the holes on 2 of them are offset from the center of the pie piece? It almost seems that they might have been concerned about air passage from the center of the tire. But even so, the large holes are overkill if that was the purpose. The '58-up version still has the smaller hole in it too.

Elite Veteran Posts: 963 Location: San Antonio, TX | Well I noticed this. There seems to be a condensation problem. My 57 De Soto had rust on the tire where the cover sat on it. There is a rubber ring that is on the edge of the cover. Perhaps the holes were intended to let moisture escape??

Location: Under the X in Texas | Yes, now that "rubber ring" edging the circumference of the metal cover almost ALWAYS broke (age shrinkage) and got thrown away. I sent one to Goers eons ago and he eventually reproduced the extrusion. Your mentioning it should remind everyone it should be there. Now, does the new Goers vendor still stock this??
