Another change to the look of the front of the car!!

I bought the car in 2008 and the front end has undergone some changes since then, from a black painted standard grille, to a New Yorker Grille, and now just had the front bumper re-plated and had the holes welded up where those ugly bumper guards used to be. They weren't stock and I'm assuming they were probably a JC Whitney item back in the day. I've put almost 35,000 miles on the Saratoga since June 2008.

I think that the black grill looked the best.

Very nice. Yes, those "guards" were ugly and the horizontal NY grille looks way better. Is the frame different too? It looks alot bigger in the pictures.

Very nice Ian - what was the cost for the re-chroming of the bumper?

The NewYorker grille frame has a deep recess that the Windsor-Saratoga frame doesn't have.

I don't know what the cost was as this was done on an insurance claim...... long story.
The bumper's been off the car since mid January and just came back yesterday.
These guys were responsible for the plating job, very nice work. https://showchrome.com/
They're here in BC but nowhere near where I live. The body shop shipped it to them.

Ian: I thought that there was a reputable plater in Sidney (about 20 miles north of where Ian is for those that don't know Vancouver Island). ??

The one that you're thinking about isn't that wonderful.....they've fallen short on a number of jobs for us, I went in with my '62 300 convertible a few years ago to ask about the bumpers and grille etc.....they said "it's a pretty big car that'll cost you about 20 grand to do".....considering that the side trim is stainless and is only one piece per side it doesn't matter about how big the car is....I thought they were way out in left field and haven't been back since.....I'd give them a miss......

They did my back bumper centre section many years ago when I backed into a stationery object!!! However, apparently the front bumper was too big for their tank, so I was told. The place in Kelowna is apparently where ICBC sends most of the classic car bumper insurance claims.

That looks very nice, Ian. I like the deeper inset of the NYer grill but liked the contrast of the black original grill. At any rate, looks very good without those bumperettes.
