I formed a zinked wire (about 5mm) around a suitable pipe and then tried it on a rim to get the optimal diameter before welding the ends together.
Then I pushed it inside the wheel cover and marked where to cut the flange off.
The welding was a little tricky with a mig , would be easier with a tig. If you have a dinged one to practise on it might get better.
Easy and fun. At least mine stayed on at least as good as original ones.
