Location: Florida | Has anyone ever weighed a rolling chassis?
I'm picking up a '57 Chrysler frame with rear axle & suspension, front suspension & steering box and all brake drums in place.
I can roll it on tires initially, but need to lift it off the ground and over an immovable obstruction.
Thanks. |

Location: So. Cal | Motor & trans included or not? Without the motor & trans, 2 strong people can lift one side at a time, probably up to 3ft off the ground with the tires still on it. But it isn't easy to do. I have one sitting in the back of my yard right now.
Edit: Actually, that's 3ft total lift. The suspension will probably move 1/2 of that distance, so you will likely only get around 1.5ft off the ground unless you use some other method.

Location: Florida | Right, no motor or trans. Good point about suspension travel.
Sounds like approximately 450 lbs, figuring I can bear hug and lift up a buddy my own weight (under 225#). Definitely better with 4+ strong people.
Thanks! |
