Hi All,

I am looking for a complete original Oil Bath Air Cleaner to suit a 1956 Dodge Custom Royal 315V8 poly engine.

Hope someone can help. I have attached a photo from the Internet. I believe this is similar to what I need.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

I have a 2bbl Oil bath air cleaner off my 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer convertible with a 270 hemi .  I have converted from a 2bbl to a 4bbl intake manifold and do not need the 2bbl intake manifold, carb or air cleaner. It's in decent condition "driver quality", not perfect but presentable. I believe it's a direct fit for the 1956 Dodge but I am not 100% certian. Ask 56D500boy if the '55 Dodge 270 2bbl air cleaner is the same as the '56 2bbl Dodge. He has a 1956 Dodge D500 and knows a lot about the 1955 and 1956 Dodges.

PM me for pricing.  Pictures to follow. I Need to resize pictures to send upload them.

You rang sir?

I am *TRYING* to learn about the 55 and 56 Dodge Orphans (First of the Forward Look, last of the King Pins) and I am collecting (and saving information that might prove useful at some point).

Yesterday, I learned about 2 bbl 55 and 56 Carburetors. The 55s used Stromberg WW3-133s and the 56s used Stromberg WW3-140s. The 55s were 270s and the 56 Coronet V8 engines were 270 so they might have used the 3-133s too. Maybe just the 56 315 poly 2bbl (218 hp) used the 3-140s. (??)

One thing that I know about the 2 bbl air cleaners is that they are a clamp-on design (rather than bolt down like the 4 bbl aircleaners). The clamp is attached to the aircleaner and has a rod and a loop handle that extend out from the base of the air cleaner (as shown in the photos).

As for 2 bbl air cleaners, these are a couple that I have in my files (which look like what Mr. '55-3Hemi has on offer):

Thanks for the information on the '56 Dodge Cornet with the 270 2bbl. I was not certian what air cleaners were offered for the '56 Dodge and did not want to give out any incorrect information.

Here is a photo of a 2bbl carb with no air cleaner on a 56 Coronet V8 (not sure if it is a 270 or a 315 ) to show the top of the carb and the flange that the 2bbl air cleaner clamp grabs onto.
