I just bought some NOS wiper arms, blades and refills for my 56 Dodge and thought that I should scan the boxes (front and back) in case somebody needs installation info in the future.

Or is that small lever on Anco wiper blades removable?

I see quite a few on eBay. You don't say what car or how long your new blades need to be.

Dave, I have an 57 Fireflite Wagon. (Sedan Windshield) Need 15" blades.
I may have expressed myself wrong, I have no idea, how to connect the Arms with the blades, because both have those center pin for the lever.
Maybe the "Red Dot" End piece of the anco arm is removable? Or the lever on Blade?

5 years later, I sadly need to resurrect this thread: The rubber on those NOS Anco Red Dot blade refills has broken. I caught it before there was any damage to the windshield. So that is good.

*BUT* now I need new blades, just the actual rubber part. These are ones with the stainless steel reinforcing strips on the longitudinal edge.

I don't want NOS inserts because I am guessing the rubber will fail on them as well

I am sure that there are some modern blade refills out there but since now a days they are typically blister packaged in twos, it will be difficult to get it right the first time.

I am hoping for someone who has done this (replaced just the rubber part) and can tell me what exactly they used to do that.

Hope somebody has done this successfully.

Thanks in advance.

I just use the plastic ones and bend the tangs in a little bit to fit them better. You can even purchase extra long ones and cut them to fit, then melt the end if you like, to prevent it from possibly coming off. I can't tell the difference when I look at them.

I bought old style blades from NAPA #6-1633 and just used the rubber out of them in my original blades. Worked great.

I have been buying inserts for less than a dollar each from China and they have been working really well for me. I went this route when the stores stopped selling inserts. I use them on all my cars. Ebay has the sites.

Now that I am back home from California, I could pursue replacement blades.

I found 12" blades (with frame at NAPA as NAPA #6-1233) (actually UWP 61233) but a) they didn't look right and b) they are expensive

https://www.napacanada.com/en/p/UWP61233?srsltid=AfmBOoo5Knj5PWk8Mcq...

I also found 55-57 Chevy and Ford 12" blades as OER CX1465. They likely would have been fine but the local "Old Car" shops did not have stock:

https://www.oerparts.com/product/1957/chevrolet/belair/parts/cx1465....

What they did have was Counterpart brand blades (with holders) as 55-17528 and 60-17528. These cater to 55-66 Chevy trucks, etc.

I bought one of each (about the same price).

I removed their respective blades (with Stainless Steel reinforcements) from their frames and tried them (one at a time) in the my OE 56 Dodge wiper blade holders.

The "Red Dot" release on the 60-17528 blade was *NOT* working well (made in China or Taiwan). I had to assist the Red Dot button with a knife point to get it to release
properly. That said the 60-17528 reinforcement frame has 4 location/antislide tangs (two per side) and I think that is a good thing.

Both blades would work. The 55-17528 reinforcement was a bit long and would have to be trimmed (Dremel) to fit in the OE (ANCO?) "Red Dot" frames. The 60-17528 had no such issue or
at least not as much (a quick Dremel on one end and Bobs yer uncle).

I will use the 60-17528 and keep the 55-17528 as the spare (I still have a new ANCO blade to use as well).

Some photos from today:

After missing (mislaid) for several years (since 2019), I finally found my treasure trove of Anco Red Dot wiper arms, wiper and blade replacements today.

But only after buying another (used) red dot arm off eBay yesterday and gritting my teeth and ripping into my storage shelves in the garage.

Found a plastic bag with all the goodies shown in the photo below, laying on some Audi parts that I am also storing in that area. OOops

Now I can proceed with the re-installation of the wiper pivots and wipers.
