Another famous Arvada resident, Clive Cussler, passed on February 24.  I think Cussler spent most of his time in Arizona (or where ever he wished, I suppose), but he has an amazing museum in Arvada, Colorado including several Forward Look stars.

I have both of his coffee table books and they are quite good!

I've read and enjoyed many of his books. May the light shine upon him and his family.

Thanks for sharing this Mike, I have enjoyed some of Mr Cussler's books, and I did not know he had this collection. I will try to visit that museum one day, looks impressive. I am sad to hear about Mr Cussler. Steve.

Mr. Cussler seemed to be a pretty down-to-Earth guy! Pretty humble beginnings and a true car nut - a lot like I imagine Jay Leno is. He could afford very broad interests in cars. Among his collection are several outstanding Forward Looks. I wonder what will become of the collection? His heirs may want to liquidate it. Here are a few images from Built to Thrill - More Classic Automobiles from Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt:

I hope the Museum will be well funded with his passing. lucky for me it is only 5 mins away from my house. I never get tired of going to it.

Howdy, John!

Does the museum still hold all of the cars shown in the images?  It's been several years since I was there - probably with you, if I remember correctly.

We talked to the fella who was in charge of the restoration shop.  I don't remember seeing that '58D convertible...

The cars are still stored near the museum, they rotate the displays, there are automobiles stored we may never see. Hope the museum stays and is not just liquidated.

Hi, Rick - yeah, that's a tough one, especially if Mr. Cussler has more than one child (I think he does).  The value of the cars must be extraordinary - he has at least one Duesenberg plus Packards, Auburns, Pierce Arrows, Delahayes - all the classics!  From the heir's perspective, probably the only fair way to settle the estate is to liquidate the collection and divide up the money.  Whereas Mr. Cussler enjoyed collecting the cars, his estate probably views them as assets.
