Model P S 3 M 43 = most likely «PS2-M» or «PS3-H» would be correctly… P = 1960 S = DeSoto 3 = High Price Class (2 = Medium Price Class) M = Medium Price Class (H = High Price Class) 43 = Four Door Hardtop Paint Code FF = Green (American analogue = Willow Green, Monotone Paint Scheme) Trim Code PSC: P = 1960 S = Color of Upholstery (probably Green) C = Type of Upholstery (probably Vinyl with Cloth) No idea about 1960 Canadian DeSoto production figures…

Expert Posts: 2089 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | . It seems that first letter in Canadian trim codes means a model year… So, if my logic is correctly: A = 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1949 First Series B = 1949 Second Series C = 1950 D = 1951 and 1952 E = 1953 F = 1954 G = 1955 H = 1956 K = 1957 L = 1958 M = 1959 P = 1960 The trim code FAS on the picture below is blue/gray upholstery of Canadian built 1954 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe, Series C62… (1.jpg) (2.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Expert Posts: 2089 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | . Another example: 1958 Windsor, which had been selling recently on ebay … MODEL: L-C-2-M-23 (L = 1958, C = Chrysler, 2 = Saratoga, M = Medium Price Class, 23 = 2 Door Hardtop) TRIM: KXC (but K = 1957)… it should be beginning from L, because L = 1958… Is it mistake or confusing? ![]() (1.jpg) (2.jpg) (3.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

How many Canadian Adventurers were there in 1960? By model? VIN decode is correct P S 3 M 43 - P - 1960 S - DeSoto 3 - Adventurer M - Medium price (Adventurer) 43 - 4dr Hardtop Paint Code - FF - Teal Metallic CPI (Ditzler) code 4352 - a 4 digit Ditzler code which means it is a Canada-only colour Trim Code - P - 1960 S - Turquoise C - Usually means series, but not in this case with only one DeSoto series. Canadian 1960 interior colours : A - Green B- Blue K - Beige or Tan L - Grey S - Turquoise T - Terra Cotta (DeSoto and Chrysler only) W - Red K - Black - Plymouth and Dart L - Black - Polara, DeSoto and Chrysler

The car is trimmed in M (Saratoga) interiors and exterior trim - thus the 2 or M. But Chrysler of Canada decided to use the Windsor name for the series - thus the Windsor name. The last Saratoga in Canada prior to 1958 was in 1952.

Expert Posts: 1819 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Vancouver, BC | Engineering Department Model Years : A - 1924-25 - 1942 - 1965 B - 1926 - 1946-48 * - 1966 C - 1927 - 1949 - 1967 D - 1928 - 1950 - 1968 E - 1929 - 1951-52 - 1969 F - 1930 - 1953 - 1970 G - 1931 - 1954 - 1971 H - 1932 - 1955 - 1972 J - 1933 - 1956 - 1973 K - 1934 - 1957 - 1974 L - 1935 - 1958 - 1975 M - 1936 - 1959 - 1976 P - 1937 - 1960 - 1977 R - 1938 - 1961 - 1978 S - 1939 - 1962 - 1979 T - 1940 - 1963 - 1980 V - 1941 - 1964 - 1981 The Engineering code was used on the paint codes starting 1969 which identified the first year that colour / shade was introduced. Also helped identify which shade of B5 you wanted. Thus a colour with code E8 (dark red) first introduced in 1965 would appear as AE8 on the 1969 and up colour lists. The British assembly plant imported Airflow CKD units and found out they ordered too many the hard way. They had leftover 1934 models through 1935 and 1936 along with a few 1935 models in 1936. Each car built in Britain (RHD for starters) was given a unique plate with the details on the car - model number, US/CDN serial number, UK serial number, colour, interior, etc. I have copies of the British publication, Glass's Car Check Book, which gives details on styling, interiors, serial numbers, identifications, etc. For the model (1934) CU Heston Airflow Eight (Imperial Airflow Eight in North America), they give the starting serial number for the first CU built. The 1936 CU starting serial number is listed as CUM-431 and the 1935 serial number prefix was CUL. * - Chrysler of Canada did not have a first and second series of 1949 models. They ended production of the 1946-48 ,models at the end of December, 1948. Thus no need for a first series for 1949. Production did not begin again at the Windsor plant until February when the 1949 models were ready to go. Also, the last American P15 Plymouth was built the second last week of January 1949 and the first 1949 P18 Plymouth rolled off the line the second week of February, 1949. Cam across a line chart showing the production of Plymouths by week during January and Febrary 1949. The line dropped to zero for the last week of January, remained at zero for the first week of February, and then rose for the second week. For the Engineering model years, they used the letter Q once - for the 1960 Valiant. Valiant production began in September, 1959, in the U.S. and in October in Canada. With production starting late, it appears the Engineering people decided the Valiant should be given a model year letter. Also, the Valiant did not use the letter "V" inn 1960, but the letter "X". Thus the Valiant V-100 was model QX1-L and the V-200, QX1-H.
