Veteran Posts: 119 | Bought new off the showroom floor by a Cuban friend's father, it's an original convertible that has remained in the family ever since. This one still has its HyFire 301cid V-8 and PowerFlite 2-speed automatic transmission. The Chrysler Export Division operated in these overseas markets: European and Near East region; Australian and South African region; Latin American region; Far Eastern region. The Dodge Kingsways and DeSoto Diplomats were produced to offer Dodge and DeSoto dealers in those markets additional models to compete with Chevrolet and Ford. The Export Division retailed full-size Dodges and the Kingsway hybrids, full-size DeSotos and smaller Plymouth-based Diplomats, Imperials, Chryslers, Plymouths, Fargo trucks, Chrysler Marine products, Airtemp AC equipment and more. Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Sending along production figures for the 1957 Kingsway - US and CDN built. Also includes Canadian production of Crusader, Regent and Mayfair series. No Mayfair convertible production, though, as Detroit did not consider Canada an export market. Somewhere production figures for models shipped to Canada exist. Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | That 133 listed under D65 - Dodge V8 Kingsway / CDN DODGE is the total number of V8 Dodge Kingsway Custom convertibles built in the U.S. (Detroit or Evansille) for Chrysler Export markets. That is all markets except the U.S. and Canada. The Canadian Dodge is listed separately, but as some models were built in the U.S. for Canada they were listed separately on the report. The models shipped to Canada were presented separately on the reports as shown above. Chrysler of Canada also had Shipping Reports which included vehicles shipped from Windsor. For the models built in the U.S. and shipped to Canada. as they were exported from the U.S. and shipped to Canada, Chrysler of Canada had to pay duties on their imported vehicles. So, the imported models had to clear customs at Windsor, Ontario (ie, F.O.B. Windsor, Ontario). Models imported would have been shipped to distributor or dealer that ordered the vehicle. Then Chrysler of Canada would ship the cars to the distributors / dealers that ordered the cars. Anyway, we know 133 Kingsway Custom convertibles were built for export. Still not sure how many convertibles (or 3-seat wagons) were shipped to Canada with Mayfair nameplates. | ||
