I've been searching for this news bulletin for years now (ever since I saw snippets of it on the internet). About a month ago, I finally snagged my own copy on eBay. Once it was shipped from Olympia WA, it was bit of nightmare watching it wander from Washington to Oregon and then all over California before finally heading to Canada. It arrived in Canada on Saturday after close to a month on the road and was delivered today. I have now scanned it in 8 parts (4 newspaper type pages, upper and lower). See below. I am starting with what is usually found on eBay (impossible to read well). Bottomline, it was a 56 Dodge Custom Royal V8 that was pulled off the assembly line by AAA officials (not a D500 which was only introduced months later in December 1955). Strangely enough, I am posting this News Bulletin on Sept. 9, 2020, 65 years to the day from when the testing started, Sept. 9, 1955. Weird. ![]() Edited by 56D500boy 2020-09-10 11:17 AM (s-l1600_2.jpg) (s-l1600_3.jpg) (s-l1600_4.jpg) (SaltLake1_small.jpg) (SaltLake2_small.jpg) (SaltLake3_small.jpg) (SaltLake4_small.jpg) (SaltLake5_small.jpg) (SaltLake6_small.jpg) (SaltLake7_small.jpg) (SaltLake8_small.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

This video was put together (originally as a slide show) for the sales people to compare the 1956 Dodge Coronet to the 1956 Bel Air. A lot of the video talks about the Super Powered Super Red Ram 230 hp engine that was in the Bonneville record setting Dodge being available in the Coronets as an option. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roTS0BueBl4 Some snippets from the video: Edited by 56D500boy 2020-10-04 3:34 PM (SaltLakeVideo_2.jpg) (SaltLakeVideo_3.jpg) (SaltLakeVideo_1.jpg) (SaltLakeVideo_4_SpecificMentionOfTheSuperPoweredSuperRedRamEngine.jpg) (SaltLakeVideo_5_CoronetBaseEngineSmallDesignFeaturesAsThePowerfulOneThatSetTheRecords.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hopefully this won't confuse things but the odd time I read references to 196 AAA Records being set by the 1956 Dodge. That is not true. It was the 1954 Dodge with the Red Ram 2 bbl V8 that set those 196 AAA records. And then the 1954 Dodge V8 went on to set fuel economy records as shown in this bit from the 1954 Ross Royal Dodge book: (54DodgeAAARecordsFuelEconomyAndPaceCar.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()
