Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | why is it that the pink cowl tag appears to be from 1958 year . 1959 cowl tags should look like this . This is a real 59 tag d500 car . This is a real 59 tag d500 car. You probably missed it: the "Pink" cowl data tag is from an Los Angeles-built car whereas your red tag is from a Detroit built car. Detroit and LA tags are pretty very different. Ain't this fun?? LA (it says right on the tag): Detroit: Edited by 56D500boy 2020-09-21 7:41 PM

Expert Posts: 1890 | . I can guess: M3 = 8 = 318 = Fin End Chrome Inserts, Dual Rear Antennas, Rear License Plate Frame (Ornamental Accessory Group #318) M3 = 9 = 419 = Fin End Chrome Inserts only M4 = 9 = 429 = Roof Molding

Expert Posts: 1890 | . In addition: 419= Sweep Moulding would be (9 is that and 8 is a 318 Acc Group No. 8) 429 = Roof Moulding (1.jpg) (2.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 1.jpg (89KB - 162 downloads) 2.jpg (172KB - 168 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | another thing I noticed is it has the FLAT dual antenna bases used in 1958 instead of the raised. maybe a early production of the car ..... just used up old stock from 1958 or a california made thing.

Expert Posts: 1890 | . SO 1126 on the cowl tag means November 26, 1959 it is a early car production probably

Yes, and if I owned one of these beauties, I couldn't move it fast enough to the trunk, also the ugly square gas tank door and the stupid straight pipe that runs thru the trunk would have to go. I would move the filler pipe to a taillight or the large chrome piece above. I love these cars but what were they thinking?

Location: The Mile High City | From the image, it looks like the canted base (with what looks like a home made flat gasket). Very, very unlikely that any 1959 Dodge should have come from the factory with a flat base, as that was early 1957 only. Neat looking car!

Elite Veteran Posts: 628 Location: Lubbock, TX | Pitting/condition on those bases seems much worse than the rest of the chrome, maybe were added from a different car?

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | I agree on the pitting of the antenna bases , but they are the 59 dodge style antennas not the flat bases style . Also that 4drht was restored back 2000. I talked to the gentleman selling the car . He also said all the chrome items of the back of the car were refurbished .

Member Posts: 36 Location: Brooklyn, NY | Yes the pitting is bad on the antenna bases. Tail light and rear bumper were re-plated 20 years ago. Rest of chrome has the slight amount of “dotting”. Very solid car. Slight rust bubbles on bottom of drivers door. But rockers and quarters are solid seat fabric not original but looks good. Couldn’t tell you how it runs and drives though. The seller for the lady who owns it had the gas tank off and line disconnected and it needed a battery. First I would do is change the wheels to spinners and white walls like it should have. Those knock offs are hideous and the back passenger side is missing the spokes. Edited by wallydodge 2020-10-08 4:20 PM
