The car is a one-of-none. The VIN on the car is from a junked out C300, according to the Chrysler 300 Club registry. Not a one-of-four. There were no C300 convertibles built.

Most likely he transferred a 300 VIN to a '55 Windsor Convertible body.

Interesting, it still seems to be well done and presentable. Curious to see what the market is on such a car.

I think switching of vins would be considered illegal in most places. At the very least it would hurt the value of the car.

I don`t know about things in u.s . , but probably it is legal to change the body shell if it is mentioned in the title. Without that it smells like forgery.

Looks pretty cool to me, as a one of none.  At least they have the cross member under the frame.  The top and boot look like they sit pretty high.  On the 57s - 59s, this is an indication of the wrong rear wheel wells (say that four times fast).  Maybe not on a 55.  They could advertise it as the worlds slowest C300

- due to the extra frame weight!  I bet it is fun to own and drive.

I would put money on Nathan's "guess".

"The New Yorker would contribute its two-door body, the Imperial, its two piece grill with Windsor rear quarters."

For comparison, here is a 1955 Windsor convertible. There is a much lower stack of the folded convertible top.
This may indicate that the original body from the 300 was used. In any case, the car is attractive, but still a one-of-none car.
