Location: Valley Forge, Pa.		Hard to believe I've had my Suburban for 18 years. As some may remember as I brought it up several times over that time about my lack of brakes. I've spent $1000s at 6 different garages and by myself trying to get brakes.
I bought a hydroboost set up and had it installed. I almost went through the windshield at a stop sign. It will take a while but I'll get used to hitting the brakes and the car actually stopping, even locking them up.

The complete kit cost less that $900 and included the MC, hoses, hydroboost, hoses, adjustable brake pedal rod. I bought it a couple years ago so possibly it might cost most now.
I don't know what else to say. It's a whole new world to me and I hope I never need the brakes that badly anyway.

Location: So. Cal		That'll help a lot when you're towing. The brakes on my cars work very well, but when I tow, I need more and have to be more careful.

Nice thing is also, if yours are power, these don't loose barking power if you have to hit the brakes quickly after the initial use. I tow my boat 6hrs to Canada every year and it was always a concern. I'm fine by myself and can think well ahead of an issue but fortunately, I've never had anyone just pull out in front of me or any unexpected sudden stops although I was coming down a slight grade in the rain with my boat behind me and saw the light change a couple hundred yards ahead. Hit the brakes and the fronts only locked but I guess the weight of the boat diving down on the rear bumper took weight off the front and I just slid. Fortunately, I had just fixed the horn and laid on it and everyone stopped and let me slide on by. I have no idea what 2 1/2 + tons broadside would do to a modern car on a wet road but my guess is that I would still be able to drive away.

If you converted to hydroboost from manual brakes and kept the same pedal, you're probably over boosted. The manual brake pedal ratio is too high for power brakes.

I'd think about fixing/replacing that battery cable next time you are under the hood.
Looks like it's about ready to come apart.
