The guy at TurnOne Steering says the output pressure doesn`t matter until very heavy loads. He says the "Flow rate" is what I need. I have a new 94 Chevy S-10 pickup ps pump ( suggested by HotHeads) for the 392 engine. He tells me the column determines the pressure needed.

That is the basic concept of hydraulics. The pump provides the flow and the pressure is determined by the resistance to that flow, either a regulator or cylinders etc.

I've already given you the flow number on your other thread. It is 2 gal/minute at 3000 rpm maximum. Do you have another question about it?

Thanks again for your reply. Planning to bench test the column tomorrow. Also looking into an entirely different power steering gear box, eliminating the old stuff. There are so many to choose from, but the Jeep Wagoneer box looks nearly the same. If I can find a box with the same orientation as the original, I`ll just install that and purchase an aftermarket column..(street rod). Any ideas on a similar power steering gear box...??

Hello again....I really like the kit you showed. Floyd Richard might just be the solution. Thanks alot!!. My question today is: does the 55-56 Dodge and Plymouth front suspension interchange with the 56 Chrysler New Yorker?? Are they the same...like it is today..??

Well maybe but you would be going backwards, i.e. lower tech, not higher tech.

I did that on a 56 Plymouth convertible, swap in 12" Chrysler brakes. I discovered the 56 Desoto and Chrysler spindles will bolt up the the control arms on the Plymouth. So I swapped over the entire spindle, support, backing plate, shoe support, shoes, and wheel cylinders. Had to shorten the tie rods to get toe-in. Chrysler did this swap when they offered 12" brakes in the special Dodge D500 and Plymouth Fury NASCAR versions. For the rear-end, I swapped in an entire 56 Desoto rear end and welded on the spring perches necessary for the splayed rear spring setup on the Plymouth.

Thanks. I guess I should have been a little more specific. Just curious if the steering gear box bolt patterns are interchangeable. Your pics look great! 98% identical to what I have. Where did you find the bushings, rubber parts, etc...?? Also..what type of steering column is that?? power or manual?

That's not his car. It is owned by a previous member here. There are very few rubber bushings on these cars. Most of the suspension parts use threaded connections that don't really wear out as long as you keep them lubricated. The box shown is a power steering box for a Plymouth/Dodge. The Chrysler power box is very similar, except a little bigger. I doubt that you can use a Plymouth/Dodge box on a Chrysler chassis, but I'm not sure. I don't know of any interchanges except for the "kit" that 56D500boy showed above.
