The owner of the car, Gerry W. (JedRhule here) sent me a nice photo of his 56 Dodge's cowl data tag and asked if I can interpret it (see way below):
The Car:
The tag (because of the tag format, I can tell that the car was built in Detroit and not Los Angeles so the VIN should start with 35 not 42):
I told Gerry that I would try (I presume others, e.g. frwl and RDP, will help if I mess up):
So from the cowl tag:
04 06 = The scheduled build date. Regarding VINs, Bruce Faulkner had a 04 02 in his list that had a VIN of 35103084 so I am guessing Gerry's will be above but close to that
16 055 = a production number that has no real meaning to us 65 years later
Body 834 = V8, Custom Royal, 4 dr hardtop

Paint: 175 = Sapphire White and Crown Yellow

Trim: 545 = Black, white and silver, like in the 1956 Dodge Mini-Brochure:
Similar 2 dr Lancer (545 as well):

Here's where I need help:
B 7 = The shipping route to the dealer destination. I *think* 7 = Truck but I cannot find the posts that frwl, RDP and/or 56D500boy agreed on a pattern for those routes.
SP 2 = ?? (frwl or RDP, can you please help here?)
