Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | I cannot seem to download pictures here. After resizing to "S" They still won't download. Error says images must be smaller than 250.....? I had success about a week ago using the same method, but no longer works. this site needs to implememt a automatic down sizer as most other sites do. This is the only site I have this issue.
Thanks Will. | ||

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10196 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Two simple rules to start with: 1. NO .jpegs from iPhones or iPads. Must be .jpg 2. Must be under 250kB (I find that 1024 x 768 is a good size, usually ends up at around 190 kB) For more hints: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=64340&...

You get it at www.getpaint.net, you need to dodge the ads for other things to find the right version to download. When you resize a photo, 1024 pixels wide is a good size for the forum. When you go to save it as a .jpg, it will show you the kb size the file will be. You can increase the compression to reduce the size right there. It depends on the content of the image not just the width.

That is great for those that are running a version of Windows (I'm now running 10) but it doesn't work for Apple products. We need to find one for iPhones and iPads. Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | I have a PC. Running windows 10. (hate it). It's what I use to access these forums. Dosen't work here all the time though. I've had a PC since the late 90's. Also have a lap top and smart, (?), phone. Tough to teach an old dog new tricks. Edited by rockerarm 2021-11-23 9:30 AM

I have been using it on my PC since its beginning (through two or three PCs, VISTA, Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10). Works great. I especially use it to handle screen captures (Shift, Print Screen). ( If I can see it on the screen, its mine. ) And of course, resizing photos that folks send me (or I take) down from 5 Mb to 180 kB (so I can post them here). I am currently using the 64 bit version, downloaded from here: https://www.irfanview.com/64bit.htm If you don't have a 64 bit PC then you can go here: https://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm PS: I am a 70+ year old dog. /Dave F. Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | I appreciate everyones help but Reading that stuff is like reading chinese to me. It seems when I download something I don't understand I get in a lot of trouble with the download interfering with other programs. I guess I'll just avoid posting here if a picturre is required. I'm a member of several other sites where I have no trouble attaching pictures. Can't even cut & paste here. Edited by rockerarm 2021-11-24 2:26 PM

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10196 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Irfanview is easy to download and use. It has never interferred with any other program in the time (since around 2008) that I have been using it, typically on a daily basis.

Elite Veteran Posts: 775 | I'm in the same boat as Will here. My devices reject the pic format resizing downloads? Sometimes I can post a attachment and sometimes I cant? I have read through all the suggestions,but still get mixed results. When I can post a attachment nobody wants to click on it. So I just don't post here that much anymore. I have noticed other members often have trouble posting pics and give up. I do not have trouble posting pics on other sites. Just here. I'm not into Facebook sites and enjoy this forum format style. Happy thanksgiving everyone. Edited by Apollo 61 2021-11-25 1:42 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | Thank you. I figured I was not the only one with this issue here. I like the site but wish it were a little more user friendly. A good example is FCBO.com. There is a forward look section there that is much better than this whole site. There are many members there that are also members here, most choose the FCBO forward look section there over this one. I've had a running build thread on my 61 Fury convertible for over 4 years now. I couldn't even imagine doing that here. There are seperate sites for A,B,E,F bodys plus others also. Administration here should check them out. Perhaps learn some tips. It's a series of sites for true Mopar fans, ALL Mopars.

New User Posts: 1 | This is really a problem for many sites and little-known social networks. I don't like the fact that I can't upload a photo to my Instagram feed in its real size. Instagram automatically crops photos, it pisses me off. There are photos that I like very much and want to share, but their format does not fit the site. Okay, in that case, I just ordered a paint-number drawing of my photos and hung them up in my room. Of course, no one will see this "terrible revenge", but it soothes my soul.

Regular Posts: 75 | I have not got a computer ,I have an iPad and a Sony xperia android phone , I can downsize pictures with software I have on my phone and during this change to jpg however when I send them back to my iPad for posting when I open they have changed to jpeg ,these downsized photos will download to the site and be in a list at the bottom of the post I am creating but only visible after opening by persons viewing the thread, so if my phone screen was big enough to see I could download onto the site in the correct format and the photos would be visible but it’s to awkward and the software programme does not work on my IPad , however I have had an immense amount of help from forum members over the short time I have been a member and this problem pales into insignificance to where I would have been without the forum and it’s members Thanks Phil

New User Posts: 1 | I understand your frustration with Instagram's automatic cropping. While you can't upload photos in their real size, finding solace in paint by number https://usa.figuredart.com is a creative solution. Although it's not a visible revenge, it brings you peace. Consider exploring other platforms if you want to share photos in their original size.

My only real complaint is that our administrator, who could potentially make some minor changes isn't actively here. So you all can complain as much as you like, but NOTHING will happen because of that. So keep that in mind. If you would like changes made, contact Dave Stragand on Facebook. Complaining on here will not accomplish anything.
