I have a line on a poly 318 dual carb manifold- just the manifold, nothing else. The guy wants 500 for it, is it worth that without the carbs/linkage? The casting number on the top in-between the carbs is 1822004, and under that is E 17 7.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just so you know, 1822 004 is the casting number, but not the part number. This is because there is sheet metal plate added to the casting so together, they become a new part.

That said, they are very rare and $500 doe NOT seem outrageous given its rarity. You still need carbs for it though. Front carb...2631S , Rear carb...2632S.

$500 is a little bit high if it is rusty and rough... But it's the correct price if it has been prepped.

As a reference, I paid $575 for an 1822004 intake from Gary Pavlovich BUT it was media blasted, hot tanked, with crossover ports blocked, and it came with a new temp sensor installed.

EDIT : I got it wrong, it's a single 4-bbl intake I'm talking about.

Vincent, I am curious why you would want the crossover blocked. Where I live, that would make the car undriveable in cool or damp weather until completely warmed up as the carb would get iced up.

It's a matter of pros and cons.

That system was only designed to help cold weather starts, but my car is always garaged, and I cruise only in the spring and summer.
And in warm weather, the crossover port might be a source of vapor lock, and does require to have a "crossover valve" working correctly.
So in the end, for me, that's more cons than pros.

I've picked up a number of these intakes for about $300. Many crack beneath the tin plate on the bottom, so you need to be sure they are not.

With today's fuel, if you do not block off the crossover, the extra heat wiull cause your carburetors to percolate on warm days and flood the engine.

I agree. $250. / 300.00 tops for a bare manifold. It's the easiest to find.

Carbs and all else will be more diffacult to locate and run the cost way up.

Single 4bbl manifold is a little harder to locate and will be a much better performer on a poly.

That's an interesting info, John.
My 2x4 intake with WCFB carbs setup caused engine flooding a few times, and I never understood why.
That might be the explanation.
