Hey Guys,

I'm bring home a '56 Savoy 4 door soon and I'm going to need to de-mouse this machine. I'm used to '65 and up Mopars and this will be new, especially when it comes to buying parts.

How do you remove the rear seat, is it the same as the "newer" Mopars with the hold downs for the bottom up at the front of the seat?

56 Savoy huh. We are going to need you to post some photos (<250 kB in size and .jpg not iPhone .jpeg).

As for the rear seat, the bottom is held in place by part of the frame that has been "locked" into two tabs that are welded to the floor pan in about the middle (side to side) of each rear passenger foot well. You remove the rear bottom by pushing seat bottom, right at the floor, towards the back of the car to pop the seat frame out of those tabs. No tools.

The rear seat back is held in place by two tabs on the seat frame that slip into two receivers at the forward edge of the package tray frame *AND* two tabs that the bottom of the rear seat back frame that are machine screw bolted to two captured nuts that are welded to the rear floor pan where it starts to kick up to clear the rear axle. Tools (7/16" socket?) needed.

One of the rear seat hold down tabs shows in this photo (look hard, it is "L" shaped with the short part of the "L" sticking up:



The rear seat bolt down "tab" is shown in this photo (with the bolt in the tab) to the right of the box end of the wrench in the photo (the other bolt head is for a seat belt hold down).

There are lots (some) folks here with what I can the "king-pin" orphans (55-56 Mopars with king pin front suspensions) who will be able to provide guidance, should you need it.
