Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | Have you considered purchasing neoprene / foam rubber in bulk and making your own? Might be a viable and inexpensive solution. For example: https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/7146F6F4-B150-4AD3-AD1A-32D97D661...

Extreme Veteran Posts: 353 | Go grab your wife’s yoga mat. They make a good lens gasket if you don’t want to get into too much trouble just cut enough out for what you need. There are cheapie yoga mats that are not fire retardant. I even used one to make the gasket between the heater plenum and fire wall on my 56. Del S

Extreme Veteran Posts: 308 Location: Newcastle Australia | The gaskets I purchased were the same. Too big in diameter. I initially cut the gasket and removed a small piece of the rubber to make it fit better. Supaglue will glue the ends back together. I ended up purchasing some O ring rubber and making my own gaskets. I think I used 7.5mm neoprene and cut it to length. Works well but doesn't give that strong delineation between the chrome and the body that Serge mentioned.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | I knew I wasn't the only one that bought these gaskets from quirley that were not made correctly . and I was probally not the only one that told them they did not fit but he keeps selling them. anyway, good idea about cutting them and I did think about doing that but they still don't fit correctly in the groove .

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin |
apparently for 59 dodge there were 2 different styles of tail light/ back up housings ... look at the bases . no wonder why my gaskets don't fit properly . pic is not my housings their for reference.
Edited by dodge59 2022-10-08 7:11 PM (Dodge tail light.JPG) Attachments ---------------- Dodge tail light.JPG (213KB - 75 downloads)

Expert Posts: 1208 Location: SWITZERLAND | Here again, the self-centering gaskets, as custom made, best for the Dodge Rear Lamps. Not squeeze. Profile A5, Material NBR, about 90 shores, -40 - 100 deg. You will not find any better ones! Getting from industrial suppliers, so called "piston wipers" (?), at various dimensions. If all Dodge 59 owners would purchase these, could get a reasonable price. Unfortunately I am not a dealer. - SERGE -

Extreme Veteran Posts: 308 Location: Newcastle Australia | Looks like my cluttered work bench. I ended up getting a full set of the housings on the right. That gives more surface area to provide a seal to the body.
