Veteran Posts: 273 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Vickers power steering pump is a Vane Pump, not a piston pump. Motion Industries is one Vickers distributor I know in California but there are others. Someone at any Vickers distributor may be old enough to remember the V series. FluiDyne is a copycat seller (good products) I used their stuff on a number of occasions when I was in business. There is a number Stamped in the center section (called the Ring) like 1.5 or 2. This is the rated flow of the pump at 1200RPM. I am sure Fluidyne can help you. The internal parts, rotor and vanes are the same for various flow ratings. If they can’t get a 1.5 and they can get a 2 that will work. The flow control in the pump determines what goes to the steering gear. Del

Expert Posts: 3689 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: NorCal | My pump operates just fine it it leaks profusely. I actually found a NORS kit for it but the O rings in the kit that seal the two pump halves were shrunk from age and leaked as bad as the originals. (Box.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Not sure which material is best, but probably Viton. https://www.mcmaster.com/o-rings/ If you do, please report back here and let us know which ones you used. If you buy multiples, I could buy some of them from you to offset your cost. My pumps have always worked fine, but you never know when it will decide to go. Veteran Posts: 273 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The OE material was Buna N, 70 durometer (that’s the hardness of the o ring material) which is a standard, and could be more available than Viton. Viton is typically used for a higher temp application. Any Hydraulic repair shop or hydraulic hose distributor should have every size o ring required. Even Home Depot has a selection. If you are ordering from, say McMaster Carr, o rings are measured I.D. (Inside Diameter) and cross section. Since these pumps were before manufacturers started metric, the o ring cross section will be, 1/16” or 3/32” or 1/8”. So if the I.D. Measures 1-3/4” and the cross section is 1/8” , therefore (1-3/4 + 1/8 + 1/8 = 2” O.D. (Outside Diameter). Hope this helps to find nice new o rings. P/S the shaft seal should be available from most Bearing Houses like Motion InD or Applied Power. Del
