I am currently re-reading Peter Grist's book about Virgil Exner and was surprised to learn (I had forgotten) that, while Mr. Exner was recuperating from his heart attack issues, the brass "rushed" the previous revolutionary 1958 designs into production as 1957s, even though the various design groups had already worked out the evolutionary 1957 designs as simple extensions of the 1956 designs.
I am hoping that someone can shed light on what happened to those aborted EVolutionary 1957 designs, i.e. still with king pins and coil springs up front.
If I was a guessing man, I would not be surprised to learn that those designs were burned in secret at the direction of the higher ups. I would be saddened but not surprised.
That said, if there were surviving records, sketches, etc of those designs I would be ecstatic.
If anyone knows anything or links that I can follow, that would be wonderful.

Thanks for the idea Sven. I have that book in my hand (I forgot that I had it). Shows the 1956 Dodge iterations done under Maury Baldwin (under Ex's watchful but recuperating eye) and then turn the page and it is the longer, lower, torsion bar 57-58 Dodges that we know about.
Nothing about the evolutionary (and still born) 57 Dodges.
But thanks. I will keep looking.
I actually emailed John Samsen yesterday in hopes that a) he is still alive and b) he remembers what shenanigans went on.
I am not very hopeful that he will reply.
