Hello everyone, I haven't been here for a long time, sorry... Yesterday I went to see an Imperial 1963 convertible for sale but also to be completely restored! I'm not interested, I'm not 30 anymore! I need a little help deciphering the data plate. The VIN shows that it is an early 63 (it ends in 102465).
THANKS

And thanks Wayne for the message ....

I put some pics of the '63 Crown (which has a white top and not a forward look because no engine/trans ...)

Here the 1963 Chrysler Convertible Top Colors list;
The 6 is for black, while 7 for a white soft top;
I think this car originally had black top, later reupholstered in white…

Another interesting fact is:
Why did they encode standard equipment? It should go "by default" anyway…

I think to avoid confusion on the assembly line.
Chrysler (except New Yorker and 300J) had power steering, brakes and automatic transmission in the list of optional equipment, while Imperial had everything as standard.
Since 1962, both Chrysler and Imperial have been produced at the same Jefferson plant…

Here another 1963 Imperial Crown Convertible with similar 955 leather trim, which sold on 2020 for comparison:
It was scheduled on October 23, 1962 (SO NUMBER 1023 0053) and has WHITE convertible top: L7 = 397 on the data plate
