I've been back from Europe for 3 days now and have managed to totally flatten my battery (which had been maintained at 12.85 V with Battery Tendery Jr. while I was away), *TWICE* ( )

I need to have the headlights on to "dock" my 56 Dodge in my tiny 12' x 20' garage. Mostly I remember to shut them off once I have "docked", but twice since being back, I have forgotten (DUH). [shakes head in shame]

Newer cars (like even my 1994 Audi V8 wagon) have buzzers to tell you that your headlights are on after removing the key from the ignition.

I obviously need something like that for my 56 Dodge.

I found this by googling but don't know if it is a good one or if there are better ones out there.

Any advice (besides stop being an idiot) welcomed.

Those buzzers are the #1 thing that I really hate about new cars. Not so much for the headlight warning, but for the key warning. Yes, I know I have the key in the ignition with the door open! I really want to do a buzzer-ectomy on those things.

Yeh, the key in the ignition one is a pain. My 94 Audi V8 wagon has buzzers for headlights and for the radio still on (power independently of the ignition key position). They DO help me.

As for the 56 Dodge, this guy has a good simple solution using a two wire buzzer that uses the power from the still-on headlight circuit and the ground from the interior light circuit (that goes to ground when
you open a door (presumably the driver's door). Wired like that, if the headlights are still on and you open the driver's door then there will be a buzzing until either you turn off the headlights or you shut the door.

It would not automatically shut the headlights off.
