56 Dodge Custom Royal Sedan with the later style cowl data tag

Subject: 56 Dodge Custom Royal Sedan with the later style cowl data tag

Location: Lower Mainland BC		.
This car, four door Custom Royal Sedan (835), has the 218 hp 2 bbl 315 poly, 2 spd Powerflite, power steering, power brakes, Solex (tinted) glass, three tone paint (265) and the correct OE interior (540).

I DO NOT know why there is only one "option" number on the cowl data tag, and, if I knew, I have forgotten what "597" might mean. Igor? Help me remember (or school me (again))

It is a Delivery Route, Dave.
The cowl tag code 597 is actually an order code 497.
No idea what is the route exactly in 1956. According to the next, 1957 model year, the code 7 means delivered by “Dealer’s Own Truck”

I’ve seen the codes 591, 593, 595, 596, 597 on the “Late” Hamtramck tags.
What does Mike Petersen’s Book tell us about this?

Thanks Igor. I was thinking that it probably was Delivery Route but I was 100% not sure.

Mike Petersen is fantastic for 1955 Dodge stuff but he does not venture into the world of 1956 Dodges. That is just you and me.

(Mostly you, keeping track of the details )

I would like to look at the IBM card, etc. but the owner (now seller) isn't easy to get along with.

I’m just thinking, if 1955 Dodge delivery route codes has listed in this book, they might be match to the 1956 route codes…

Digging at my notes now, I’ve found these:

Delivery Route Code 4 = 494 = Customer Pickup = from Detroit to Clinton, South Carolina
Delivery Route Code 5 = 495 = no info, *BUT* it has shipped from Detroit to Denver, Colorado (no idea what transport was used in this case)

Just had a quick look at Mike Peterson's book and he says nothing about Column 49, the "Route" column on the 55 (and 56) Dodge IBM cards.

So no help there.
