Expert 5K+ Posts: 9893 Location: So. Cal | Looks like it had most of the spring special items on it, originally. Gobs of rust from the underside pictures, so that's not great, but I do like the 3 speed manual shifted 6 cylinder. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126058028362 You are looking at a 1958 Dodge Coronet 2-Door hardtop...this is a 3 speed manual car with a flat 6 cld engine, it has a solid body, this is a running and driving car that needs restoring! I feel that my price of $8,500 is very realistic for a classic vehicle like this one with the potential that this vehicle has. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9893 Location: So. Cal | I strongly agree. In fact, I don't like any of the spring special items, except for the grille emblem. Other than that, they all make the car look worse. I'm guessing by the short length of trim under the fin, that this originally had the check mark style trim at the back, with the full, wide spring special trim under it. Probably for the best that it's missing. The new owner could install '57 Dodge style trim instead, which will look much better, and was an option in '58.

Expert Posts: 1510 Location: Lordstown, Ohio | What I’m really baffled over is. My 57 custom royal I had listed for 5500 which had way less rust and far better shape. Never had any interest. Wish this person the best but I think he is doing a lot of the stuff our leaders are pushing

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9893 Location: So. Cal | frwl - 2023-08-21 9:45 AM ... 585 = order code 355 = Front Bumper Guards, I guess ... SCHEDULE A 0625 16016 = Scheduled on June 25, 1958 (0625) No, this car doesn't have the front bumper guards (teeth), nor the rear bumper guards. That option is actually kind-of rare to see on a Coronet. So it has to stand for something else. Options it has that you didn't mention: Radio Map light I know that many spring special '58 Dodge didn't come with all the spring special features. And there are multiple options for side trim as well. I expected that to be delineated by the options somehow, but not sure if that was done at every factory. Based on the LD1-7176 VIN, it looks like this car was manufactured at the Detroit plant. I'm not sure how it differs based on Detroit vs. Los Angeles vs. Newark. Any idea what the "A" is there for under the schedule?

Location: The Mile High City | I think the 5 in the 25th position might be the AccoustiFoam headliner (this car had it). Not sure about that code though... Very interesting car - one of only 715 Coronet Lancer Coupes built with the Getaway Six. One of only 3,413 1958 Dodge sixes built with a manual transmission. Mileage might be original given the good condition of the pedals. Lotsa haters on the spring trim. I love it though!

Location: The Mile High City | The schedule A is nearly universal. I think I may have seen one data plate with a schedule B - darned if I can find an image though. I cannot make out the subtitle on the dealer nameplate. Looks like it is broken off "EEDMAN" - cannot distinguish the city
Funny - it has a radio too. You would think that would be accessory group 2, but perhaps the radio was added later - the knobs are not stock. Edited by Lancer Mike 2023-08-21 11:46 PM

Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | 5 under the 58 is for spring special license plate escutcheon and fin end caps. The dealer script is Reedman in Langhorne PA. I’ve worked for them since 2004, now Reedman-Toll. Lancer Mike, I looked at this car for you back about 11 years ago, it was in NJ at the time.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9893 Location: So. Cal | Cool, thanks. Do you have other spring special option codes for the '58 Dodge? Also does the 463 code indicate a specific part of the spring special package like the side trim?

Location: The Mile High City | Right-on, Matt! I thought it looked familiar, but couldn't place it. So wouldn't the fin end caps and license plat escutcheon be included when 3 is in the 18th position???

Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | 3 under the 46 is the side trim and grille emblem package. The license plate escutcheon and fin end caps were a different package and were under 58. License plate escutcheon without fin end caps was a 4 under 58.

Expert Posts: 2029 | christine-lover - 2023-08-22 9:14 PM The license plate escutcheon and fin end caps were a different package and were under 58. License plate escutcheon without fin end caps was a 4 under 58. Thanks Matt. It is very valuable information. So, Tag code 584 – order code 384 – Rear License Plate Frame “Escutcheon” Tag code 585 – order code 385 – Rear License Plate Frame “Escutcheon” and Fin End Chrome Inserts Well, What code would be in, if a car has equipped with Fin End Chrome Inserts only, as a separate option? Is it “3”? Tag code 583 – order code 383?

Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | Not sure about fin end caps only, my theory would be a 3, never seen a car with just those. Also not sure about the number 1 under 59, that is usually blank.

Member Posts: 26 | I like this car. Never had any idea about the "Spring Special" trim until today. I'm spoiled out here in the desert. I paid less than this for a 100% rust-free '61 Pioneer 2-door post, but in all fairness, this car is probably a bit more desirable market-wise than my own. I myself will take the unibody/Slant combo any day, because I feel it makes for a better daily. I always wanted a flathead car, though. Edited by revvin' kevin 2023-09-09 10:45 AM
