Not wanting to hijack someone else,s thread,

I have to start cleaning up the wiring on my Chrysler. I have not received my workshop manual yet, but in the meantime I'm hoping someone can ID this relay - what is it controlling?
sorry about the lousy pics

That looks like the starter relay, but you have an external solonoid mounted above it. Your original starter should have the solonoid mounted directly to it. So it looks like someone has replaced your starter with a different version.

The photo isn't the best but from what I think I can see, it looks like the 12V horn relay.

This is mine on my 56 Dodge:

The two look similar, but in '57-'58, the horn relay doesn't have that large lug connection. The upper device in my picture is the horn relay, and the lower one is the starter relay. But given that he is using the wrong starter relay/solonoid, who knows if the horn relay was swapped out as well.

Here's a pic of the entire mess I'm dealing with. The circuit breaker I added (radio etc) My understanding is the upper square relay is the horn, the round solenoid is obviously the starter. I'm guessing the square 1 may be old starter and has been left in-situ (one pin is empty)

I am thinking that the starter that is currently (pun intended) on your 354 Spitfire Poly is NOT the type of starter that the car originally left the factory with.

The proper starter has an integral solenoid that sits on top of the starter and is used to throw the Bendix into the flywheel ring gear.

I think somebody McGyvered a lesser starter onto the engine and in doing so had to use a fender mounted starter relay (or something).

You can down load a searchable pdf of the 58 Chrysler Factory Service Manual for free at:

https://mymopar.com/service-manuals/

I just did that and found these:
