This might be an on-going game to be played every Saturday ....or not.

The part below is important and was used over a wide range of years.

I know what it is and what the part number (PN) is. I was just wondering how many others had discovered the location and function of this little part.

Bonus points if you know it's real name (hint: not "clip"). Grand prize if you know the PN.

It's the retainer clip that holds the wiper arm to the pivot shaft. Very easy to lose and very frustrating to try to replace.

Ding. Ding. Winner. Winner. Chicken Dinner.

Exactly (I should have figured that you, Nathan, would get this one, with all your 56 Plymouths, etc).

I am in the process (finally) of replacing my very pitted wiper pivots with much prettier ones (either real nice used or ones that I had replated).

Initially, yesterday, I had no clue what held the wiper pivot to the activation arm ("link"). Hard to get to, especially on the driver's side.

So I removed the cardboard glove box (6 screws) to give me better access and sight-lines on the passenger side and saw that it must be some kind of fancy "C" clip and was able to remove it with needle nose pliers. (Probably a short screw driver would work too). When I saw it in my hand, I had to admire the design - it was designed to be removed and replaced (as needs be). A regular C-clip would be even more of an nightmare, especially on the install.

PN is 1605 299 and there are actually a few out there (I think my NOS guy has some too):

The rusty thing at the end of the pivot arm in this old photo of mine:
