"The D100 designates a 2WD half-ton pickup. It features the renowned Super Red Ram 315ci V8, an early member of the Hemi family that produced 285HP and 390lb-ft of torque. It has a 2-barrel carburetor The on-the-tree manual transmission adds to the character of this timeless classic. There were only around 10,000 D100s produced in 1957, compounding the exclusivity of finding a gem like this here today." https://www.allcollectorcars.com/classic-car-auctions/vehicles/1957-... But I guess the lure of calling their engine super is too great. This air cleaner is dramatically different from the one on my '57 D200, and I'm pretty sure mine is the original. I've seen gobs of different variations on those, and I'm not sure if people stick random air cleaners on them, or if they really did come with an assortment of random air cleaners. But my guess would be that this particular air cleaner came from a different vehicle. I think having the large vents at the top was an older design. Here is a picture of mine. Not sure about the air cleaner but I am fairly confident that the 315 Poly 2 bbl (which would have been 218 hp and called a Super Red Ram in a 56 Dodge) was NOT called any kind of "Red Ram" in a 1957 Truck. I would have guessed Power Giant but apparently that was only for the hemi-head engines and maybe only in 1958. (??) The best (and it is terrible) I could find is this "Power Dome" reference for the 315 2 bbl poly D100 truck engine: Edited by 56D500boy 2023-11-02 5:27 PM (57Dodge315D100TruckBrochureCover.jpg) (57Dodge315PolyTruckEngineName.jpg) (57Dodge315PolyTruckEngineStats.jpg) (315PowerGiantInA1958DodgeSweptSidePickup.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 57Dodge315D100TruckBrochureCover.jpg (149KB - 95 downloads) 57Dodge315PolyTruckEngineName.jpg (149KB - 88 downloads) 57Dodge315PolyTruckEngineStats.jpg (146KB - 88 downloads) 315PowerGiantInA1958DodgeSweptSidePickup.jpg (83KB - 86 downloads)

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10066 Location: So. Cal | Yeah, you may be right, though I have no way to confirm it. But I'm also pretty sure there weren't any "SUPER" Power Giants either like in the last picture. I guess if you are going to make a custom sticker, go for the whole enchiburritaco. I wish I could get a much better picture of the decal on the engine in the 2nd picture. Sure would like to know what it says. But I believe that 2nd picture is of a 318 engine, not a 315. Take a look at the oil filter and the thermostat neck. I'm guessing he pulled that from a '59 truck brochure and used it there as if it was the same thing. Lo and behold, both pictures from the brochures show my original air cleaner! The red 2bbl air cleaner in the last picture was never used in a truck either. That I am pretty sure of.
