Expert Posts: 2060 | . A data plate picture, P L E A S E !!! Need to figure out: what column shows the “Roof Moulding Package No. 2” this car equipped with… My guessing it is in the column 47… (i.e. 472, if this car built in Hamtramck). Expert Posts: 2060 | . You could try to clear the black paint under the both mouldings in some place to the factory paint. It would be showing what mouldings have been factory installed. The shade on the factory paint on the place below moulding should be darker than on the all over body, I guess. If the both mouldings only have been factory installed, darker stripes on paint shows you it. If the upper moulding only – only one stripe. Let me know, please.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9977 Location: So. Cal | That Autumn Rust color showing through on your car looks much more pink than the paint chip shows. Almost like my Firedome. But my Firedome's paint isn't original to the car.

Location: The Centennial State | Hi, Igor: I thought code 411 got you the lower moulding and basically you would have the full moulding set with no color insert. Code 412 would actually paint the sweep and would always correspond with a MOM (XYX) type color code as opposed to a MOO (XYY) type color code?
I suppose to test that theory, has anyone ever seen a '58 De Soto with no side mouldings at all (no code 411 or 412) or, conversely, a code 412 with a XYY-type paint code? Edited by Lancer Mike 2023-11-16 8:57 PM

Expert Posts: 2060 | . Hello Michael, Your theory is very interesting. I never think about this. Upper moulding is always in standard, while a lower moulding is optional… Hmmm… So, why did they write for code 411 “Moulding Only”? The “MouldingS Only” would be correct!
