Charlie: I have investigated 56 Dodge rear leaf springs extensively, before. The number of leaves in the rear springs varied from 4 to 7 depending on the service, the body type and the engines.

With the Forward Look system down, since Friday, I missed your response Charlie.

The only way to confirm that your car was an original D500 hemi car would be to get the IBM card from Danielle Szostak at Stellantis Historical.

If you email Danielle Szostak at Stellantis Historical (formerly Chrysler Historical) at danielle.szostak@stellantis.com
with a scan of your 56 Dodge registration/ownership papers with your details and the cars's VIN number to prove that you are the owner of the car, I believe that she will be
able to send you a pdf copy of the microfiche images of the IBM cards. The IBM card will show the engine number. D500-nnnn for the D500 hemi and D63-nnnnn for the poly.

danielle.szostak@stellantis.com

In the meantime, try to get a photo of the spring number that is stamped into one of the bottom leaves, like this:
