Readers are probably getting tired of this topic,,,but in closing allow me
to add my 58 POLY to the tally.  When I bought it in 1966 my  FLP8 was
knocking like a woodpecker.  Another couple miles and I would have kissed
the block goodbye! It had 48K miles on it.
Other than sick engine it was a beauty!  Got it for $100

  crank out. I used a '58  crank, since it listed as an interchange. The
'58
  LP2 crank I used was forged. I am still a believer that the '58 could
  possibly be a better crank. I never new of any throwing rods.
         A man I now that had a '58 from almost new took it in for service
and
  the mechanic took it for a ride and blew the hood open!!
