Re: IML: Dirty Oil in my 440

It is only my opinion but, as far as I am concerned, it is quite dangerous to start stirring up whatever is sitting on the bottom of your oil pan. I know it is a dirty job but the safest and best way is to pull the pan and valve covers and give them a good cleaning. It takes very little to clog an oilway or jam the oil pressure relief valve open and your engine is then toast(0 oil pressure). Been there done that. It's not the answer everyone wants to hear but it is reality.

Why? What does the ATF do?

This sounds somewhat speculative. Where did you hear
about it? On what authority?

I'm not challenging you, I just would want to know
more before going down that road.
