RE: IML: 1959 imperial sending unit

A new sending unit was made for for my '60 Crown S.H. last year.

It was made by

J.F. Sullivan Co &.

Atwater Kent

14 Clarendon Road

Auburn  MA  01501

Mr. Mike  LaVallee ? current proprietor

Email: atwaterkentakmfg@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Tel. (508) 792-9500

The mechanic compared the  new and the original
and noed a few slight differences but  overall he thought
the new one was just fine.

The big difference was the float - the old one seemed to have
more brass wrapped around the cork and the new one  had less.

Also, when the sender was fit into the tank, a second o-ring was
necessary - but maybe that was beecause it was a new replacement
tank too. In the end, everyone lived happily ever after.

This was probably answered while I was away and I missed the response but
just in case no one else answered....

I don't think you will find a new sending unit anywhere. The best bet is to
buy a used one from one of our fabulous Imperial junk yards and have them
send it directly to a vendor who can rebuild it.
http://www.imperialclub.com/Part/Electrical/gauges.htm has a list of the
vendors that the Imperial Club is aware of and I am sure there are many
more.
