RE: IML: Imperials on Film

I agree, that was a nice example of a 60s car ad.

I'm curious about the Imperial in the ad, however.

The test driven Imperial had sedan window frames on the driver's side, and the hardtop configuration on the passenger side.

Factory photos from "Imperial 1955-1963: Photo Archive" feature a 1960 Custom configured the same way. I presume this was done to demonstrate the qualities of both styles with one car and aid in photo-taking. Did "showroom" examples like these find owners, or were they converted to either a sedan or a hardtop?

(This same car in the "Photo Archive" also features a round steering wheel, similar to the 1957-59 wheel. Was the squared-off steering wheel a late addition to the car before its October release?)

Speaking of Imperials in film, a month or two ago my younger sister was watching "Because of Winn-Dixie", and my father pointed out what appeared to be a (Teal Blue or Pinehurst Green?) 1961 Imperial 4-door in front of a small-town library (the librarian's, presumably). I did not get a chance to see the scene again; it was a brief and partial shot of the car as it was. Anyone who can verify?

Outstanding job on the films guys! That 1960 sales ad was great.
Kudos for the efforts of acquiring and setting these up on a web based format.

Hi Folks,

If you're wondering how to spend your Friday evening, may I suggest a cruise to the "What's New" section of the club's website:

http://www.imperialclub.com/new.htm

While you're there, you'll find a groovy commercial for the 1961 Imperial LeBaron, a sales training film for the 1960 Imperial, and a full length feature film that road tests the 1957 Chrysler and Imperial models against Buick and Cadillac.

For those of you who are also fans or owners of the Chrysler 300 series, I also posted a really nice film for the 1960 Chrysler 300 F -- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-205475928660246104

You can't buy entertainment like this! But you CAN show your appreciation by supporting your club. Hit the "Enjoy Our Site?" link at the bottom of any page of the club's website to show your appreciation. :o)

Now, sit back and enjoy the show!

Elijah
