Re: IML: fan clutches

Unless you live near a parts store with actual knowledgeable counterpeople who : A , can read and UNDERSTAND a catalog, and B, who are over the age of 30, you probably wont find an Imperial fan clutch. Having said that,as well as having been a mechanic by trade and at one time worked in the parts business , all hope is not lost.

Take the fan clutch and go to the oldest parts store in your area, find the guy who looks like hes been there forever and dont rush him or make him mad. Tell him what you have, and then see if they have a buyers guide or at least an actual PAPER CATALOG of fan clutches. Heres the secret, one fan clutch may actually fit more than one vehicle!!! Whod a thunk it! All that matters is that its for a vehicle with air conditioning, and the dimensions. The overall height of the fan clutch from mounting pad to where the fan blades mount are the key issues. If those two are right, or at least very close, then the fan clutch wont hit the radiator and the blades themselves will be the right distance from the radiator.

Been there done this, with the fan clutch on my Imperial and on my Barracuda.

Hope this helps,
