IML: Cost of wiring harnesses (was repro wiring sources etc.)

I can't speak to the cost, although that seems very high to me. It's been a
few years since I bought a complete harness from Y n Z's, but in the late
80s, I bought one for a customer's Packard for around $490 - so apply the
usual inflation percentages and you should come close. Of course your car is
much more complicated, so add another 30% or so.

I think the 59 LeBaron harness would work fine in your 59 Crown - you'll
have some extra wires, just tape them back in the harness with electrical
tape and forget them. Since they already have the pattern, I don't think
the price would be nearly that high.

Just call them up and ask- they're nice folks. Let us all know what the
going rate is in the new century!

Okay, so if I'm reading this right, a new harness from YNZ would be about
$2,000? Is that about average? Another question: since YNZ made a harness
for a '59 LeBaron, is it possible they could use that pattern for my '59
Crown (4-door sedan)? I know I'm going to need one for my '59 as it appears
there was a fire in the car at one time.

As intriguing as it sounds to make my own (and I love puzzles!) I don't
think an Imperial is the place for a beginner, yes?

Thank you,
