Jeff,

 I just re-wired mine. From the fire wall forward anyway. The last 56 I had I rewired it all and it was a functioning car. I think it all depends on your patience. This was a little easier since I got rid of the generator and regulator and went with an alternator. Then again that was only 3-wires eliminated.
